Sazan lives in many rivers, lakes, reservoirs of the European part of Russia, in the Far East. He lives in cohesion, avoids a strong current, stays in the bays, overgrown with reed and other plants, in whirlpools, in locked places. It is distinguished from other fish of the Carp family by its long dorsal fin. The first beam is jagged and so sharp that it easily cuts the line. The back is high, dark. The lower fins are grayish, the tail fin is reddish with a brown tint. Golden eyes, antennae on lips.
Spawning begins at a water temperature of 13-15 ° C. The female lays from 600 thousand to 1.5 million eggs in the grass in shallow water. Spawning carp is as noisy as a bream. The males jump out of the water and flop back, raising the spray. A week later, larvae emerge from the eggs. They feed on zooplankton, grow rapidly. After a year, the common carp weighs 30 grams, and with plentiful nutrition – 250 grams; by the end of the second year – 500-600 grams. The adult common carp feeds on crustaceans, various larvae, mollusks, worms, bloodworms. With abundant nutrition, the carp grows up to a meter in length and gains weight more than 20 kilograms. But such large fish are rarely found, in amateur catches individuals from 500 grams to 4-5 kilograms prevail.
For catching carp, it is better to take an elastic strong rod with running equipment, with the help of which it is easier and more convenient to snatch this fish, which is distinguished by its violent disposition. Fishing line – with a diameter of 0.3-0.8 mm, and hook number 7-14.
In one and a half to two weeks after spawning, the rested carp begins to eagerly take for the dung or earthworm, the creep, the larva of the May beetle, maggot, bloodworm. Catch it from the bottom, the nozzle is lowered near the reeds, water lilies, not far from the snags. You can fish both from the shore and from the boat. In both cases, caution should be exercised, masked. With a knock, loud conversation, bright clothes, you can frighten him away and he will not fit the nozzle. Do not throw too much tackle too – this also guards shy fish. It is better to hunt for carp in the predawn hours, when in the morning fog all objects are as if blurred and obscure. At such a time, he behaves more boldly: often floats to the surface and, splashing his tail, goes into the depths. Pheasant loves young green shoots. If you listen, you can hear a chomp – it “breakfasts” the carp. This is where you need to throw the nozzle. In summer, sazan nozzles can be varied with boiled potatoes with bread crumb, steamed peas, semolina, and a crust of bread. In an unfamiliar pond, you must definitely ask local fishermen what is better for pecking.
When fishing with a fishing rod, the same bait is used as for all cyprinids.
Most often, the carp drowns the float, but sometimes, as anglers say, it sucks the nozzle, and then spits it out. After a pause, she tries it again and, finally, drags the float to the bottom. If they are caught on a plant head, they need to be hooked immediately; if on an animal (on a worm, crawling out), you should pause (count “one or two”), and then cut it. A carp caught on a hook strongly resists: it rushes in one direction, then in another, trying to get into grass or driftwood. If he does not succeed, he turns around and rushes with an arrow to the shore or under the boat.
With a dull snap, the rod released from the hands will be pulled into the water, if you hold it tightly, the fishing line breaks. Here the coil will help. It is necessary to have time to tighten it, pull up the fishing line to prevent slack. It happens that the carp spins fishing line around the anchor straps descending from the boat, or, tumbling in the water, twists the fishing line on itself. If it hits the serrated beam of its dorsal fin, a cliff is inevitable.
… I hooked every now and then, but large crayfish clung to the hook. I let them go into the water, planted a red dung worm again and threw it. The float drowned again, I hooked and felt heavy. The water began to boil: finally took the carp. Hardly torn from the bottom. He rushed to the right, the brake on the reel crackled, the rod bent, bending to the water. Twisting like a stuck coil, he tried to pull it closer, but he stubbornly pulled into the depths. Suddenly the fishing line weakened. “Gone!” – flashed in my head. Feverishly began to twist the coil, but the slack did not disappear. Another turn, another … and suddenly I discovered that the carp is rushing to the shore. I saw his bronze side and sparkling golden eyes. Sazan hit with his tail, cut off the fishing line, turned and slowly sailed back …
A common carp can be caught with a bottom fishing rod. It is equipped with the same fishing line and hooks as a float fishing rod. Leads on the bottom should be 0.1 mm thinner than the main line. When fishing for carp from the shore or from a boat, the fisherman needs to carry netting.
