You must look for perch
In most water bodies, perch is constantly moving. Who doesn’t know the situation: half a day walk, walk around and around? Check all the traditional places where he usually took, H is empty. And suddenly on some underwater flat patch you will find a perch. And he stands here very tightly. And another time he is not there already. Either the oxygen regime has changed, or the feed has run out, or atmospheric pressure has fallen sharply. One can only guess …
I have been catching perch in the winter for many years and made sure that its behavior both in a certain period of the year and during the day cannot be driven into any patterns. It’s aground, where there’s only one and a half a meter of water, then at a depth, then at a dump … In general, we must look for perch! Here is an example from my own practice. In the area of the fishing and sports base Sknyatino (Tver region), where I quite often catch perch, besides the Volga, there are three more rivers: Nerl, Volnushka and Pechukhnia. All of them are spring loaded and the water level in them depends on the operating mode of the Uglich GRES. About ten years ago there was a lot of perch here and it was not difficult to make a picture of moving it during the winter season. If the small grassy plant was then ubiquitous at a depth of up to 2CH3 meters, then I can not say this about a large perch. On the first ice, we went after him most often to Pechukhnia, where excellent humpbacks fell in reeds and snag; in the middle of winter, from about January 15 to the end of February, large perch rolled down the Volga during the course, and in the spring, after the discharge of water, when its level dropped by 2 × 2.5 meters, we searched for perch along the old channels of flooded rivers. I think that in a similar way he can migrate to other large reservoirs like Uglich.
Scientists attribute perch to photophilous fish, whose active life takes place in conditions of high illumination of the aquatic environment. Therefore, it feeds mainly in the daytime. In favorable periods, the bite of this predator can continue throughout the winter day with short breaks. However, it seems to me that the best hours of fishing, nevertheless, must be recognized two to three hours after sunrise (from about 9 to 11 hours) and from 15 hours to evening twilight. On the first and last ice, the perch often takes well until complete darkness. This is why experienced anglers do not leave the holes as long as the nod of the fishing rod is visible.
Perch, as is known, is a schooling fish. However, unlike roaches and scavengers, which at the sight of food begin to swim excitedly, moving their fins and gill covers more often, and often chasing each other, perches behave more sedately. Watching through the hole for their behavior, I have repeatedly been convinced of this. Typically, perches do not throw the whole flock on the bait Ch suddenly appeared in the water column mormyshka, baited by a ruby bloodworm. It is as if they did not notice her at all, flicking their fins weakly. But one of them is slowly heading towards the playing bait. Throw Ch and she has it in his mouth.
The daily diet of perch in the winter is largely determined by the type of food organisms that are currently included in its diet. It can be crustaceans, bloodworms, larvae of other insects, or fry. If several perches have found food, a flock standing nearby can also find out about it. The information that the food has been found is transmitted by the poses, sounds, flows and swirls of water generated both from the movement of the perches themselves and from the food objects on which they hunt. In a word, perches are grouped wherever they are. But, it happens, to find a flock of perch H is only half the battle. It may well turn out that the predators before this caused a real defeat to the accumulation of fish trifles, were full to the dump, and now they will digest food for a long time, not paying attention to the dishes you offer
Talking about winter fishing for perches, probably, it will be right to consider it depending on three periods. For there are some conditions in the first ice of Ch, others in the wooded land of Ch, and on the last ice of Ch also has its own specifics of fishing. Experienced anglers know this well. Of course, it is necessary to take into account the nature of the reservoir. If perch can be caught for several weeks on the first and last ice in closed water bodies (lakes, ponds, quarries), then in flowing water bodies the fisherman can successfully hunt a striped predator even in the winter, when everything seems to hibernate under the ice. As for gear and fishing equipment, here, in my opinion, there is also its own specificity. For each period you need the appropriate gear. The same can be said about nozzles.
The first ice is not only a bell, but also thin
I usually start my winter season by catching perch in small quarries and ponds located in the near Moscow suburbs. Firstly, fairly strong ice is installed on them faster. And secondly, it’s like training, working out the reaction, checking gear and equipment. Fishing lasts no more than five to seven days. As soon as the ice becomes thicker, it is time to move to solid bodies of water.
