Striped hunting: large perch prefers large spinner

It is difficult for me to agree with some of the points made by the authors of these materials. Immediately make a reservation, my observations, based on personal fishing experience, relate to fishing perch in the Kaliningrad region. It is possible that the finicky humpbacks near Moscow require a more delicate approach.

Let’s start with the snap. What the authors suggest is considered universal, that is, it is not designed for a specific object of lure. Is this good or bad? What would seem to be bad if skillfully equipped fishing rods can catch both small and large fish? Continue reading

The structure of the pike is adapted for fast movements. Her body shape is Chondo-elongated (arrow-shaped) with far protruding flat jaws, well dissecting the water. Dorsal and pre-caudal fins moved closer to caudal. The wide and powerful caudal fin, together with the dorsal and pre-caudal, gives the pike an opportunity to make instant and strong forward throws during wave-like movements of the back of the body and when striking with the tail. Her body is covered with small scales and a large amount of mucus, which also contributes to the speed of movement.

Chebaka on a spoon-bait ?!

Chebak, or Amur ide is a common fish in the Amur basin. In Primorye, it is found in almost all bodies of water, excluding the very upper reaches of mountain rivers and low-flowing small lakes. According to literature, it reaches 30 cm and 250-400 g, but my personal record is 870 g, and fish weighing 500-600 g comes across constantly. In appearance, the chebak is similar to an ordinary ide, but has a higher body and less bright fins. It spawns in May, during spawning and immediately after it, it feeds mainly on insect larvae, insects themselves, filamentous algae. Chebak in large quantities destroys eggs and juveniles of valuable fish species, so its catch is unlimited.

In spring, this fish is well caught on worms, maggots, caddis flies, pearl barley, and bread nozzles. In summer, biting is much worse. A large chebak can be caught only at night on a lamprey larva, in the daytime only small and medium specimens are caught on greens, insects, bread nozzles. Continue reading
